About Me – Behind The Brands

Hey, I am Farhan Tahir Khan. Every brand has a story — and mine began almost two decades ago, deep inside the world of e-commerce and online marketplaces. Over the last 18+ years, I’ve worked across Amazon, DTC brands, wholesale, and global distribution systems — not just building businesses, but reverse engineering the algorithms that shape them.

Today, I call myself an Amazon Algorithm Reverse Engineer, a Startup & Brand Advisor, a Growth Architect, an Operational Strategist, and a Global Expansion Partner. These titles are not just labels — they represent the different stages where I step in to help businesses unlock growth.

At BehindTheBrands, my mission is simple:

  • Help ambitious individuals turn ideas into structured businesses.

  • Support startups in achieving sustainable early growth.

  • Guide brands into multichannel ecosystems — Amazon, Shopify, Walmart, Noon, and beyond.

  • Enable founders and corporations to expand into global assets, complete with distribution, manufacturing, and omnichannel presence.

I prefer to work behind the scenes, discreetly crafting strategies, systems, and partnerships that make growth look effortless from the outside. But the real power lies in building structures that last, brands that thrive, and businesses that grow into legacy assets.

This blog is where I share those insights — lessons from the trenches, frameworks I’ve tested, and strategies that work in the fast-changing landscape of e-commerce and global trade.

If you are an entrepreneur, a student exploring side income, a founder scaling your brand, or a corporation planning expansion — you’ll find something here for you.

Welcome again — and let’s build something extraordinary, together.

Defending Your Bestseller: Using Variations to Block Competitors on Amazon – Insights from BehindTheBrands

On Amazon, protecting your bestsellers is just as important as scaling them. While many sellers focus on launching new products, smart sellers use variations to strengthen their top-performing ASINs, block competitors, and maximise visibility across marketplaces. At BehindTheBrands , we’ve seen first-hand how a strong variation strategy not only boosts sales but also acts as a defensive wall for your brand. Why Bestsellers Are Always Under Attack On Amazon, a product that starts ranking in the top positions automatically becomes a target for competitors . Hijackers, copycats, and even new private label sellers try to steal: Keywords (ranking space you’ve earned) Traffic (redirecting buyers to similar products) Trust (undermining your reviews and authority) This is why simply “launching and leaving” isn’t enough. To defend your bestseller, you must continuously expand its footprint —and variations are the smartest way to do this. How Variations Defend Against Compet...

Boosting Amazon Sales Through Strategic Product Variations – Insights from BehindTheBrands

In the ever-changing world of Amazon and eCommerce, the most successful sellers know that growth is not just about launching more products — it’s about making smarter moves with the ones already performing well. Over the past 18+ years working across marketplaces and analysing algorithmic behaviour, I’ve observed one consistent truth: strategic variations often outperform entirely new launches when it comes to scaling sales and building brand authority . At BehindTheBrands , we focus on helping sellers understand these patterns so they can build stronger private labels, optimise their listings, and generate long-term growth without unnecessary risk. Why Variations Can Outperform New Products Amazon’s A10 algorithm doesn’t only look at sales volume; it measures engagement, keyword relevance, customer behaviour, and product authority. When a product is already ranking and performing, introducing variations (colour, size, style, bundle packs, etc.) strengthens that product’s visibility ac...
